The next children’s beginner class will commence Term 4, 11:00am, Saturday 11 October, 2025

This is a great way to learn with your friends, along with other people who have never fenced before.

Duration:	Beginners course runs for a minimum duration of 10 weeks. Lesson are 60 mins
Lesson cost:	$200 (payable to the coach)
When:	Saturday 11:00am – 12:00am
Beginner registration fee:	$50
Equipment provided:	You will receive a mask and jacket for the duration of their beginner lessons. Females will also be provided with a breast plate. A glove will need to be purchased ($35) on their first lesson.

We don’t require our beginners to become members as soon as they start, however we do require some information from you when you are starting off. The beginner form is required to cover you for you by insurance while you are learning to fence.

Due to the federal election, the school hall and gym will be unavailable for club activities.

There will be no lessons class and individual,  and no social fencing.

The club will be open again as usual from the following Tuesday 6 May and Saturday 10 May 2025.

The Swords Club Jubilee Cup Competition, our annual all ages electric foil event, will be held on Saturday, 24 August 2024, at The Swords Club. This event is open to all members, and all members are encouraged to compete, regardless of experience.

Date: Saturday, 24 August 2024

Time: Roll call at 1pm, start of bouts 1:15pm. Please arrive in time for roll call or you may not be able to fence.

Venue: The Swords Club, North Sydney Girls HS Hall

Format: This is a non-handicapped event. The competition will start with poules to 5 and continue with direct elimination (DE) bouts until completed.

Equipment: All fencing will be using electric equipment and there will be limited Club gear available to borrow on the day. If you have them, please wear full fencing whites, although tracksuit pants will be acceptable.

Entry Fee: $20 per fencer payable online or on the day.

McEvoy Cup is an annual club competition for all Junior Members (all members under 18 years of age).

Participants must have a current membership (form and payment completed) for 2024 to be able to compete. This is for insurance purposes. Membership can be completed here.

Date: Saturday, 22 June

Time: 11:30am for a 12pm start – registrations and check in close at 11:30am

Entries fee: $20

Format:

• Competition will start with poules and continue with 10-hit direct elimination bouts until the round of 8 then 15-hit direct elimination bouts until completed.
• Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Equipment:

• All fencing will be using electric equipment.
• There will be limited Club gear available to borrow on the day.
• If you have them, please wear full fencing whites although (thick) tracksuit pants will be acceptable
• The second-hand clothing and equipment pool will be available.

The Swords Club will open again in 2024 on Saturday 13 January 2024 and Tuesday 16 January 2024 onwards for individual lessons and social fencing.

Please liaise with your coach regarding start dates for individual lessons.

Get ready for the Club’s biggest annual event which promises lots of fun and camaraderie for everyone – fencers, parents, and friends alike: the 72nd running of the Nils Saksen Mixed Handicap Foil Competition.

We are taking registrations prior to the event this year. You can pre register for the competition here

Don’t worry if you forget we will be taking registrations on the day.

DATE: Saturday, 16 December 2023
TIME: Arrive at 8:30am for 9:00am roll call
FEE: $25

Club members of all ages and standards are invited and encouraged to compete. Fencing will use electric equipment with score handicaps against the more competent fencers. Prizes will be awarded to all finalists (top 6).

Not fencing? You’re still invited to join us and cheer on the fencers, help with hospitality, or just have a chat with everyone else.

Parking will be available in the school through the gates to the left of the loading bay.

We will have Club Hoodies,T-shirts and a few pre-loved items and equipment for sale. If you have outgrown and/or unused items, bring them as well — somebody just might be looking for that particular item!

This year we are also seeking volunteer help with the setup and running of the event. You can advise if you would like to help via the registration link.

Membership Fees

All participants are required to have paid their 2023 membership fees. Membership form can be found here

Meanwhile, 2024 membership fees can also be completed in advance here.

For both 2023 and 2024 membership fees, Active Kids vouchers will be accepted.

Deadline to pay your 2024 Membership Fees will be 31 March 2024. The Club uses your membership fee to pay for the Club venue and insurance for our members.
