TSC Under 15 Youth Inter-club Competition

We are excited to run our first youth club competition this year. To give our fencers an additional challenge, we will be inviting other clubs to join us.

We hope that fencing with other young fencers will give them renewed challenge, offer more variety in competition, and allow them to meet more fencers of their age. We also hope that the Club is able to organise and be involved in more events like this throughout the year.

The competition is scheduled on Sunday, 14 March. We encourage everyone up to the age of 15 (born on or after 2006) to participate.

Details as follows:

Date: Sunday, 14 March 2021
Times: Arrive at 8:15am; check-in and registration closes at 8:30am; bouts start at 8:45am
Venue: The Swords Club, North Sydney Girls HS
Format: Poules then Direct Elimination.
Fee: $20 upon registration (visitors/non-TSC financial members pay an additional $5 visitor’s fee)
Equipment: Bouts will be electric so fencers will need an electric foil, body wire, and a lame, apart from the rest of their usual fencing gear (i.e., glove, mask, jacket, plastron, and chest plate for females).

Fencers are encouraged to have their own electric gear (a VERY limited number of second-hand electric foils and lames may still be available for purchase from the Club second-hand pool). Breeches are also recommended (you might also want to check out the Club second-hand pool); otherwise, please wear thick trackpants. If you are also looking into getting your own gear, we recommend ordering now (through Jeff Gray at jefence@tpg.com.au) to ensure delivery on or before competition day.
We hope that this competition becomes a positive experience for them. If you or your child has any questions or concerns, we encourage you to approach any of our coaches, Club committee members or any of the “older” (or rather, experienced) fencers and parents or drop us an email at theswordsclub@gmail.com

Thanks again and looking forward to seeing you and your child at the competition.
